WATERCOLOR INTERNATIONAL 7
Watercolor International (WI) started in 2012 in Thessaloniki. 30 artists from abroad and Greece participated in the first exhibition.
That was a great success. Five more exhibitions followed (2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2023 and 2025) with more and more artists from all over the world.
The artists were very carefully selected. The aim was to bring together works from the world's most famous and successful watercolorists. Initially WI was an invitational-only exhibition. Later an Open Call was introduced, to give the chance to more talented artists to participate. Thessaloniki was now at the center of activities and exhibitions of Watercolor in the world.
Watercolor is one of the most accessible mediums, with materials available even from our school days. This is the reason why sometimes it is underestimated. But in the hands of experienced and talented artists it is a top form of art. The greatest and best-known painters in art - history painted in watercolors and have left great works!
WI7 is one of the biggest exhibitions not only in Europe, but also in the world. Given the high level of participating artists, WI is established as one of the most important exhibitions for the best watercolorists from all countries. Various techniques and approaches are exhibited, even different forms of watermedia on paper. Thus, the exhibition presents a "mosaic" of techniques and views of contemporary watercolor.

As part of the exhibition, various events are organized, with the most important being demonstrations and workshops by renowned artists, so that the public can learn more about watercolor.
Finally, we have to thank all the companies and individuals who have supported WI over the years and still do this year and certainly the participating artists and jurors who make it one of the best exhibitions worldwide.
